The Way Our Family Celebrates New Year’s Eve.

Hello, I’m Matvey. I am 12 years old and I live in the beautiful city of Sevastopol. Now I’m going to tell you how our family celebrates New Year’s Eve.
In Russia we begin to celebrate New Year’s Day on December 31(New Year’s Eve) and continue on January 1. We have a lot of free time on winter holidays.
Before New Year’s Day our family makes some preparations. Dad does shopping. Mum makes some special dishes. Grandma makes toffee apples and banana pie. As for me, I make decorations in our flat.

 HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

New Year’s Day

I like winter. This season brings us a lot of festivals. My favorite celebration is New Years Day!
On New Year’s Eve my father, brother and I decorate our New Year’s tree.
My mother usually cooks special delicious dishes in the kitchen. I often help her.
Then we have festive supper and organize some funny games and competitions. We enjoy making New Year’s wishes and telling fortunes.
At 12 o’clock we always watch fireworks display. Some people go downtown to watch the firework. But we usually stay at home as it is seen from our windows. We always have a great time.

I think it is a fantastic holiday. And I like it very much!
