In the culture of the eastern Slavs the traditional character Did Moroz (Ukrainian: Дiд Мороз) plays a role similar to that of Santa Claus. The literal translation of the name would be Grandfather Frost. However, English-speakers traditionally translate his name as the alliterative Father Frost.
Did Moroz brings presents to children. However, unlike the clandestine ways of Santa Claus, he often brings them in person, at the celebrations of the New Year, at New Year parties for kids by the New Year Tree. The "in-person" gifts only occur at big organized celebrations, where the gifts can be "standardized." The clandestine operations of placing the gifts under the New Year tree still occur while the children are young. Did Moroz is accompanied by Snegurochka (Russian: Снегурочка), or 'Snow Maiden' , his granddaughter.
The traditional appearance of Did Moroz has a close resemblance to that of Santa Claus, with his coat, boots and long white beard. Specifically, Ded Moroz wears a heel-long fur coat, a semi-round fur hat, and white valenki or high boots, silver or red with silver ornament. Unlike Santa Claus, he walks with a long magical staff, does not say "Ho, ho, ho," and drives no reindeer but a troika.

So Father Frost and Santa Claus aren't the same, I thought they would have been, oh well. I think that it must be a hard thing to do to distribute all the gifts Father Frost has to distribute in a huge celebration, how will he know where the person who's gift he has is at? Why does Father Frost distribute gifts during New Year instead of during Christmas? Does Father Frost say anything when he's distributing the gifts like Santa Claus, when he says "Ho, Ho, Ho"? What's a staff? What's a troika? Well Santa Claus only distributes presents to kids that have been good and not to those that have been bad, is Father Frost like that too?
It is so awsome that you guys also have someone who distributes gifts in your culture just like we do.Father frost and santa claus are in some ways alike and also different. It is nice that he takes your presents in person,i think santa claus should do the same thing. Is he able to distribute all the gifts to everyone?Does Father Frost do the same thing that santa does and only give the nice people gifts?
haha,
thats a cool version of santa claus. Only that our santa is the legend, that delivers presents in rienders. But they are still the same. Does he give presents to naughty people?
Well, as a rule children try to be nice before the New Year to get gifts from Father Frost.
Before the holidays kids learn poems and songs and when Father Frost comes they recite him poems and sing songs near the New Year's tree. So they behave well and get gifts.
